Juvéderm is hyaluronic acid in the form of viscoelastic gel, which is transparent and homogeneous. It is obtained by biosynthesis and is of non-animal origin. It does not require prior skin test and the molecule is highly biocompatible.
The effects of Juvéderm last approximately 12 months and sometimes more depending on skin type, the area treated and the volume injected.
Juvéderm can be used for perioral lines, nasolabial folds, oral commissures, cheek wrinkles and lip augmentation.
Redness, edema and pain at the injection site may develop after treatment and generally disappear spontaneously within 72 hours. Occasional cases of induration in the form of nodules, sometimes accompanied by redness, may occur a few days to a few weeks after the injections. This usually resolves on its own or can be treated, in office, with the injection of hyaluronidase.
Patients with known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or diseases affecting the immune system should not have Juvéderm injections. Pregnant or breast-feeding women should not have Juvéderm injections.
You should avoid exposing yourself to high temperatures (severe cold or saunas, UV or sunlight) during the days following injections. Otherwise you may return to your normal activities immediately.
